Last week media reported that Érick Arellano will become president of
Mazatlán’s new Liga Mexicana de Beisbol baseball team to be called Club
Marineros which will play during the summer months beginning 2016. At the time
of the announcement, Arellano stated his club is interested in participating in
the construction of a new baseball stadium in the port.
Asked by reporters about the new stadium yesterday, Governor Mario Lòpez Valdez said there have been no advances in construction.
What we have now, said the Governor, is a completed executive project and a proposal by a local group of businessmen for its possible construction. The project is viable, he said, but with the sale of Grupo Modelo who were to be in charge of the new stadium, the project has come to a standstill.
