Mazatlán Hosts National Chess Championship

Cuban Lázaro Bruzón, winner of the 2014 National Chess Championship is in town to defend his title at this year´s competition taking place at the Hotel Palms Resort beginning today through Sunday.

Approximately 500 chess players will vie for a part of the 300,000 peso purse, including 30 Mazatlecans.

Bruzón, ranked second in his country, heads the list of attending Grand Masters Emilio Córdova and Alejandro Ramírez, three time champion of the event.

Cash prizes will be awarded to First, Second, Third and Fourth place winners as well as Juveniles Sub 16 and Sub 14 and youngsters Sub 12, Sub 10 and Sub 8.
