International Gastronomic Fair in Maz in October

With the object of internationally showcasing the variety of products from Sinaloan farms and the ocean, the Sinaloa Secretary of Tourism announced yesterday an international gastronomic event entitled “Raíces Culinarias” (Culinary Roots) to be held in Mazatlán from October 15 through 18.

Approximately 2,500 people will participate in the first time event including 12 international chefs, sommeliers, coffee and tea experts, Mexican chefs and university students pursuing a career in culinary arts.

Among programmed activities are a welcome cocktail party, conferences, workshops with invited chefs, food festival during which experts will prepare dishes in various local restaurants and a cultural exposition.

“Raíces Culinarias” has been many years in the planning under the hand of Mariano Maganda, Executive Chef of the Grupo Pueblo Bonito who will also take part in the fair and is one of the few Mexican chefs invited to gastronomical forums in Spain.

Chefs who have confirmed their attendance at gastronomical fair in Mazatlán in October include:
Roberto Ruíz: Mexican chef and owner of the PuntoMx restaurant in Madrid, Spain, the only Mexican restaurant in Europe with a Michelin Star

Diego Panesso: Columbian chef originally from a coffee plantation, is the third generation of chefs in his family and represents internationally Mercedes Benz

Juantxo Sánchez: Spanish chef who is a judge for Top Chef and private chef to the President of the Vasco government and cabinet

Édgar Núñez: Mexican chef of the Sud 777 restaurant in Palanco, Mexico City

Xano Saguer: Spanish chef of the Restaurante Espaisucré who is considered one of the major pastry chefs in the world

Javier Plascencia: Mexican chef originally from Baja California Norte, owner of the restaurants Grupo Saverios and considered one of the 100 persons most influential in Mexico

Chad White: American chef, owner of Comun Kitchen & Tavern in San Diego, Craft Pizza Company in La Joya and La Justina in Tijuana.
