Mazatlán’s American Consul Resigns

Luis Ramírez, Consul for the United States Consulate in Mazatlán for four years, has resigned his position for health reasons.
Speaking to reporters at a farewell dinner on Tuesday, Ramírez said he has been offered a position with a multinational company negotiating contracts with companies in Mexico and will continue to live in Mexico.
When he took over the Consulate post four years ago, said Ramírez, Mazatlán was experiencing what was possibly the most critical period for the city in terms of security. However, due to the (hard work) of government institutions, we now have the best epoch we could wish for in terms of security, confidence and a city that has opened its doors to nationals and foreigners.
