Plans for 2015 Carnaval Announced

Raúl González Rico, Director of the Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlán, gave reporters a view into the 2015 Carnaval yesterday. He told the reporters Carnaval would be celebrated between February 12 and 17 next year.
The theme of next year’s Carnaval will be announced on November 7, the Director said. He noted, however, that “The floats of the queens are going well; those for the floral games are already completed, but not yet assembled because of the weather conditions and they have to be protected. The float for the King of Joy is about 70 percent complete and the one for the Carnaval Queen is about 50 percent finished.”
Raúl Rico estimated the public-private investment for the 2015 Carnaval to be approximately 22 million pesos ($1.694 million), similar to the investment for the 2014 Carnaval.
As for attendance, he said that Carnaval has reached its maximum capacity. Efforts will be focused on improving the quality of Carnaval, not on attendance.
