To honour and remember the 32 Mazatlán fishermen lost during Hurricane Ismael on September 14, 1995, municipal authorities will erect marble obelisks containing each of their names beside the statue of the Virgen de La Puntilla at the La Puntilla dock.
Following a mass, the unveiling ceremony will take place on September 14 after which the traditional floral wreaths will be cast into the water in the annual remembrance of those lost during the hurricane whose bodies were never found.
