A Banner Tourist Season for Mazatlán

According to the Ministry of Tourism for Sinaloa, during this summer’s tourist season the visitors to the city spent a total of 450 million pesos ($34,650,000) or an average of 900 pesos ($70) a day per tourist. The tourists’ expenditures were up 25 percent over last year’s summer tourist season.
The Secretary of Tourism said the city’s visitors accounted for 500,000 room nights in the city’s hotels.
Francisco Córdova Celaya, Secretary of Tourism for the state, said, “It was a great season, the best season for Mazatlán; we will be working this week and next in evaluating how we did and what we need to do as a tourist destination to provide a better service, product and city. We are always looking to improve what we are offering. According to our calculations, we had over 500,000 tourists, if you multiply their average daily spending of 900 pesos a day that gives us a total of 450 million pesos.”
