Bus Companies Ask for Designated Lanes

Representatives of Mazatlán’s two urban passenger bus transport companies, Alianza de Camiones Urbanos and Águlas del Pacifico, met with Mayor Carlos Felton to ask the planning department to introduce designated bus lanes on the most travelled routes in the city.
The representatives singled out the Ejército Mexicano and Juan Carrasco routes as the most problematic for buses, explaining cars are parked on both sides making it difficult for bus drivers. And since buses often form a caravan along these heavily travelled streets, it also affects car drivers who will not let the buses pass provoking many accidents, above all with motorcycles.
One way to diminish these accidents, the representatives told the Mayor, is to designate bus lanes on inner city routes. (from Noroeste)
