México Holds Brazil to Goalless Draw

Commerce in the port city came to a slow crawl yesterday, as everyone gathered around television sets to watch México battle Brazil in the 2014 World Cup games.
Although there were no goals in Fortaleza yesterday, the game did not lack for chances. México’s goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa, intervened with some top class saves on several occasions.
In fact, it was Ochoa who seemed to have gathered most of the headlines around the world for his outstanding play. Headlines from Spain to Argentina labeled him “The Wall” for his tenacious performance refusing to let Brazil score one goal.
Brazil’s Julio Cesar was the less busy of the two goalkeepers, but only because most of México’s attempts to score were either inches wide or high of the goal.
After two matches, Brazil and México lead Group A with 4 points each and are seen as favorites to progress. On Wednesday México will take on Croatia, while Brazil will play Cameroon.
Brazil coach Luis Felipe Scolari told Brazilian newspaper O Globo, “México had great physical strength and ball work, but we had chances in both halves.”
