Have a Beef with the City? Send them a Photo

The photos go directly to the Mayor, said the Secretary of Innovative Government.
The photos go directly to the Mayor, said the Secretary of Innovative Government.
Beginning yesterday, Mazatlecans have a new tool to report problems directly to the Mayor. It is a recently introduced website where users can upload photos of problems such as potholes, dirty water or cars double parked and blocking traffic.
The website platform was created by the Secretary for Innovative Government on instructions from the State government and Mazatlán is the first municipality to put it into gear.
Named “Clic,” the site is a way to empower citizens to find solutions for problems, deficiencies or abuse by authorities through the use of photography, said Secretary Karim Pechir Espinosa, and those photos go directly to the Mayor.
He told media most people have a cell phone with photo applications, and often complaints are posted on social networking sites. The government is providing a secure way to bring their complaints to the Mayor´s attention by going into the “Clic” site, uploading the photo and the poster´s information. The poster will be given a folio number and when the problem has been solved, he or she will be sent a picture showing the result.
Mayor Carlos Felton said at the presentation of the website that it is a new collaborative mechanism with citizens to attack and solve problems and if there are no resources available, the municipality will look for them from the State or federal government.
He invited Mazatlecans to capture problems or abuses “in flagrante” with a photo and give a “Clic” to report them.
You can find the “Clic” site at: www.innovaciongubernamental.gob.mx/clicmazatlan orwww.mazatlan.gob.mx .
