Mazatlán Mayor Carlos Felton announced yesterday that the upgrade of the popular Zona Dorada tourist zone is in the hands of the community to make suggestions and begin the project.
To facilitate the project, Secretary of Tourism Francisco Córdova Celaya allocated approximately 11 million of 13 million pesos to begin the first stage.
Mayor Felton told reporters the project´s first stage is to replace the uneven and dangerous sidewalks which older tourists find difficult to navigate in the Golden Zone when they have to step off the sidewalk onto the road.
As well as sidewalks, ramps and tree-shaded areas will be installed along with a second path to the beach from Av. Playa Gaviotas.
Sinaloa Governor Mario López Valdez advised he will “cooperate” with an additional 10 million pesos to mitigate the flooding problems experienced every rainy season on Av. Laguna.
