DIF and Telmex Foundation Donate Bikes to Rural Students

Under the program “Ayúdalos a llegar” (Help them to arrive), Sinaloa Family Services and the Telmex Foundation gave away 50 bicycles yesterday to primary and secondary school students living in rural areas who often walk over three kilometers daily to attend school.
The 50 lucky students were from the communities of La Mora Escarbada, La Palma Sola, La Noria, Escamillas, El Zapote, El Vainillo, Palmillas, Llanitos and El Chamizal, among others.
José de Jesús Salas, a student from the community of Llanitos, said when receiving his bicycle that he gets up when it is dark very early morning to arrive at classes in time. The bike will not only help him get to school faster, he said, but he´ll get some exercise too.
