Beer stands to be installed on Mazatlán’s Beaches

Mayor Carlos Felton announced that on the beaches between Fisherman’s Monument and Cerritos there will be constructed a total of ten beer stands. The precise location was not stated; the mayor saying only that they would be placed 200 to 300 meters from each other.
The beer stands will be sponsored by “the two strongest nationwide breweries” Felton said. The beer stands will open at 8:00 am and close at 8:00 pm. Each brewery will have five stands.
About 30 owners of retail establishments in the Golden Zone met with city officials to express their dissatisfaction with the decision. They say the beer stands will hurt their businesses and they are required to discontinue selling alcoholic beverages at 11:00 pm, while similar establishments in Olas Altas can sell such beverages until 2:00 am.
The mayor also noting that although the exact dates have not been determined; there will be fireworks displays in Olas Altas during the latter part of the week. The mayor said a likely time would be Saturday at 10:00 pm.
