Mazatlán gets 20% of State’s Investment in Tourism Infrastructure

Francisco Córdova Celaya, Minister of Tourism for the state of Sinaloa, said that the state government will invest 100 million pesos ($7.6 million) for tourism infrastructure statewide and that 20 million pesos ($1.5 million) has been allocated to the municipality of Mazatlán.
Of the 20 million pesos allocated to Mazatlán, Córdova Celaya said 15 million pesos would be allocated to the Golden Zone and the remaining 5 million pesos to the town of El Quelite.
The funds to be invested in the Zona Dorada will be invested in a three year project. The Minister said, “It consists of sidewalks, entrances and exits, revamping the area, among other things. The Golden Zone has not been touched in over 20 years and we at the Ministry of Tourism will bring to the area a three-year plan for this year, next year and the next.”
Work on the first phrase will begin in the near future, he said.
Monies allocated for El Quelite will be used for the paving of streets and repairing facades, among other things, the Minister said.
