Mayor Felton found City Hall offices inadequate.

During his first walk-through of Mazatlán’s Municipal Hall yesterday, Mayor elect Carlos Felton whose three year term of office began January 1, 2014 said he found the offices in a poor state of repair with exposed and spliced electric cables presenting a fire hazard.

He told reporters the building is old, offices deficient and few things function. His main interest is that his new cabinet see the situation and begin considering what they have already discussed, a new administrative building.

Mazatlán deserves a new (municipal hall), he continued, one that is close to popular colonias, more functional with sufficient space, more open so that the public sees a friendly place where functionaries are not hidden in corners.

The Mayor explained they have an historic opportunity to take advantage of the Ley Público Privada (Public Private Law) and to explore (the possibility) of a new Municipal Hall that gives better service.

The idea is the development will evolve within the next year and a half while they search for land, said Felton. They are looking for land belonging to the Municipality or land belonging to the Federal government which can be donated. Once the land is obtained, they will then look for investors.
